Lori Williams, RN, MSN, DSN®, OGN, AOCN

Lori Williams, RN, MSN, DSN®, OGN, AOCNDr. Williams is an Instructor in the Department of Symptom Research and an Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse. She has worked in oncology nursing for 24 years, 17 of which have been in blood and marrow transplantation (BMT). She is especially interested in the effects of genetics on symptoms of cancer therapy, the effects of symptoms on family caregivers of cancer patients, and ethical issues in research. She is currently involved with a pilot study looking at the effects of cytokine blood levels on symptoms in patients with AML or MDS undergoing allogeneic BMT.

Dr. Williams is actively involved in leadership with the national Oncology Nursing Society. She is an associate editor for the Oncology Nursing Forum and the immediate past chairperson of the Oncology Nursing Society Annual Congress. She also volunteers with the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation and is the immediate past chairperson of the Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Test Development Committee. She was an NIH fellow in 2002 at the National Institute of Nursing Research Summer Genetics Institute. She was the recipient of an American Cancer Society Scholarship for doctoral study in oncology nursing.
