Patient Advocate Foundation

As Coordinator for Patient Advocate Foundations’ National Hispanic/Latino Outreach Program, Ms. Febus strives to promote the services currently offered at the Patient Advocate Foundation to the Hispanic and Latino communities in New York and Nationally. She does this by direct contact with civic leaders, medical facilities and social service establishments. As a Patient Liaison for the Patient Advocate Foundation she assists patients dealing with insurance, job retention and all relative debt crisis issues that arrive when newly diagnosed with a chronic and debilitating illness.

Ms. Febus has a degree in Social Services and is a credentialed Medical Biller. She has gained a total of 12 years experience working with insurance companies. She was Director of Referral Management for the HIP-Kingsborough Flatbush Center in Brooklyn, NY and Referral Specialist for a major, I.P.A. insurance company in Garden City, NY prior to joining PAF. She uses her experience in Utilization Management to help patients resolve issues regarding to health coverage and billing matters.

Ms. Febus was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico and was raised in NYC where she currently resides. She brings to the Foundation the compassion and dedication required to assist patients resolve their matters.

Ileana Martinez is the Florida Hispanic/Latino Outreach Coordinator as well as Patient Liaison Representative. Mrs. Martinez’ focus is to assist citizens who are currently being denied access to the healthcare system, provide patients with necessary support to help resolved their issues, by mediating with insurance companies, creditors, Human resource representatives, on behalf of patients in trying to get a resolution. Her areas of specialty are Health Insurance, billing and coding issues that result from a patient's diagnosis.

Mrs. Martinez was born in Havana, Cuba and migrated to Florida with her family in 1971, where she grew up and was educated. While attending College she began to work for her father Rigoberto F. Padilla, MD. where she began to learn the medical business. After earning a degree in business she was made manager of the family practice. As the business manager she began to work closely with patients, insurance companies and patient’s employers as she assisted patient in work related disabilities.

Having worked closely with the Hispanic community as the practice was in a predominantly Hispanic/Latino area, earned her great rapport with the community. Upon the passing of her father she went on to join the staff of a medical research practice, as research coordinator for trial research studies, which again brought her back to working with the Hispanic community which she has served for so many years. Mrs. Martinez maintains up to date knowledge of current trends, resources and community referrals contributing to aspects of medical treatment for Hispanic patients.

Mrs. Martinez and her husband reside in Miami Lakes, Florida. Her Daughter Nicole is a senior at Monsignor Edward Pace High School, and son Carlos is in the eighth grade at Immaculate Conception Catholic School.
