NEWPORT NEWS, VIRGINIA (July 12, 2007) –The Patient Advocate Foundation (PAF) has been named a top 25 place to work in Hampton Roads for 2007 by Inside Business. PAF, a national, non-profit organization dedicated to safeguarding patients’ access to healthcare, is headquartered in Newport News, Virginia. The organization has 100 employees principally in Hampton Roads and six satellite offices throughout the nation in California, Florida, New York, and Iowa.

PAF offers many programs and educational opportunities for patients including direct case management assistance, internet patient services, ongoing live patient chats, PAF-authored publications, state, local and national outreach and projects targeting specific patient populations.

“I congratulate each of our employees for helping us earn this honor. They are the reason PAF is one of the best places to work in Hampton Roads,” said Nancy Davenport-Ennis, President and CEO of PAF. “The PAF mission is unique—providing patients with access to affordable, quality health care. Far too many Americans with life-threatening or debilitating illnesses are unable to access the care they need. We are here to help.”

Each year Inside Business recognizes 25 local employers who make a significant investment in their employees. The publication invited Hampton Roads businesses to compete in their Top 25 Places to Work competitive application process. The applications are then turned over to a panel of independent judges with knowledge in human resources management and employee satisfaction. Judges then award points in four different categories: culture/personality, family-friendly environment, compensation, and employee development. The ratings are averaged and a total score is decided for each company. The 25 companies with the highest scores are the winners.

PAF was founded on the principle that healthcare is a basic human need and shared social responsibility. PAF services are available to all patients, patient families and medical professionals and offer a variety of patient assistance programs including Co-Pay Relief and Colorectal CareLine, as well as insurance claims intervention, job retention services and debt crisis management.

Through its sister organization National Patient Advocate Foundation (NPAF), also founded by Nancy Davenport-Ennis in 1996, the Foundation is dedicated to working collectively with the Administration, Congress and all levels of government to overcome the challenges and create solutions that will allow for progressive, modern and effective healthcare for all.
