In-Person Case Management Services to be Provided On-Site at the LIVESTRONG Cancer Navigation Center in Austin, TX.
HAMPTON, VA (February 4, 2011) – Patient Advocate Foundation (PAF) – a national non-profit organization that seeks to safeguard patients through effective mediation assuring access to care, maintenance of employment and preservation of their financial stability relative to their diagnosis of life threatening or debilitating diseases – today announced an expanded partnership with LIVESTRONG® to offer new on-the-ground case management services for Austin clients that visit the LIVESTRONG Cancer Navigation Center.
PAF has a long standing partnership with LIVESTRONG and since 2004, has provided sustained, professional case management support to more than 3,000 LIVESTRONG clients annually. As a result of the organizations’ expanded partnership, on February 15, 2011 bi-lingual PAF case manager, Brendan Bietry, will begin providing on-site case management services at LIVESTRONG’s new walk-in Center in Austin. The Center provides free, confidential, in-person one-on-one support to anyone affected by cancer, including loved ones, friends, health care professionals and caregivers. Bietry will also conduct PAF outreach throughout Texas and will serve as PAF’s ambassador on the ground for LIVESTRONG sponsored events.
“We are excited and proud to expand our long-valued partnership with LIVESTRONG,” said Nancy Davenport-Ennis, CEO of PAF. “We strive to provide helpful and convenient resources and information to our patients, and the new LIVESTRONG Cancer Navigation Center fits perfectly with that mission by providing one-on-one support to cancer patients and their loved ones. By partnering with groups like LIVESTRONG that share our commitment to improving the lives of cancer patients and their families, we hope to help more patients access the quality care they need and deserve.”
In addition to providing case management support to LIVESTRONG patient referrals over the last seven years, PAF representatives also serve on LIVESTRONG’s National Hispanic/Latino Advisory Board and have served as Expert Reviewers and Peer Reviewers for dozens of LIVESTRONG patient education publications.
“As an expansion of our navigation services offered in partnership with the Patient Advocate Foundation, we are pleased to welcome Brendan Bietry to the team at our LIVESTRONG Cancer Navigation Center,” said Chris Dammert, Director of LIVESTRONG’s Navigation Services. “We are very excited about this new collaboration with PAF and look forward to the impact that The Center will have in Austin with this additional service.”
